Falcon Lake is in the news again. Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez, Jr. tells Channel 5 News armed pirates shot at a McAllen couple on Falcon Lake this afternoon. The husband and wife were jet-skiing near Old Guerrero.
On their way back to shore, pirates in a boat pulled up next to them and started shooting at them. The husband was hit, possibly in the head. The woman tried to save him and ended up being at shot as well. She had to turn around and leave her husband in the water. She fears he’s dead.

US authorities and outraged Texans are pondering a plan of action to deal with Mexican pirates after a US jet skier was shot Thursday and his fleeing wife chased onto the US side of a border lake.
The shooting on Falcon Lake, part of the Rio Grande watershed near Zapata, Texas, follows a months-long surge in attacks by drug-cartel-linked pirates on US boaters who have crossed into Mexican waters. It is the first instance in which an American has been hurt.
“Piracy on Falcon Lake is an incredible story, especially when Somali piracy has been so much in the news,” says Robert Chesney, a national security and terrorism expert at the University of Texas School of Law, in Austin. “It’s amazing to think that it’s actually happening on the Texas border.”

A Texas sheriff has requested the help of Mexican authorities to find the body of American tourist David Michael Hartley, who was believed shot in the back of the head on Falcon Lake Thursday after being ambushed by armed boaters.
Texas Parks & Wildlife Department spokesman Mike Cox said Friday that authorities continued searching the U.S. side of the recreation spot, about 60 miles south of Laredo, for the 30-year-old man.
And no doubt nothing will happen to these pirates. There was a time when no 2nd rate country would have dared attack an American. Retaliation would have been swift and strong. But obviously not anymore. But I’m sure our government authorities will tell her that they are “sorry for her loss”. And that’s about as far as the U.S. will go.
What is going on with our country? This is a travesty and an outrage that should punish the Mexican bandits and insure our borders are safe. WTF has happened with our government? We are to busy worrying about al-kada when we have drug cartels shooting people in our own backyard.
The government better step up to the plate here and do something about this –Send a national guard down to protect the entire lake including the Mexican side(shoot to kill and ask questions later) if we have to, but this is B S !!!!
Its time to take control back, over our own backyard and the time to do it is now. Write to Governor Rick Perry and lets get something done about this..Then Write to Obama and ask what he plans on doing about this as well.
It is NOT going to stop until something is done that sends a message that the party is over for these drug cartel pirates!
I am just in shock that the way we go about this situation is by asking for only a body in return…..There has been a U.S. citizen murdered for no reason and the police are not even interested in justice. I am actually sad to say I can’t believe we do business this way!
