Man Questioned After Threat On United Express Flight

A man from California continues to be questioned Friday evening, after what police call suspicious behavior following a bomb scare.

Crews were called to the airport around 10:28 a.m. as the United Express flight 6036 was flying from Chicago.

Police say the flight crew noticed that a panel had been tampered with in the bathroom and an article was found. One passenger was reported to have been inside the bathroom.

When the plane landed the eleven passengers and three crew members were taken off the plane and loaded into a van. Police then went on board and handcuffed the 28-year-old suspect.

A bomb sniffing dog was brought in to search the plane. No explosive device was found.

Officials interviewed the flight crew and passengers. The FBI and Traverse City Police are still interviewing the man at this time. Captain Morgan with the Traverse City Police Department says the passenger is cooperating and voluntarily speaking with authorities.

No other flights were impacted and the airport is back open at this time.
