The Department of Homeland Security\u2019s science and technology directorate partnered with the University of Southern Mississippi and several other organizations to create a computer program called SportEvac that uses human avatars to simulate the behaviors of panicking crowds in sports stadiums.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur goal was to try to find ways to reach security planners and give them a tool suite they can use for practicing these scenarios,\u201d says Marciani.<\/p>\n<p>The program can be customized to fit the specifications of individual stadiums.
