An international Al-Qaeda cell, based in the northern Sinai Penninsula, is suspected of being involved in plans to attack gas pipelines running between Israel and Egypt.
According to Egyptian media, the plan was to strike Israeli ships passing through the Suez Canal.

I saw that the Europeans are planning to build a series of solar sites across North Africa and carry some of the electricity under the Medeterranian for consumption in Europe. This sounds like an idea on a par with getting your natural gas from Russia. It must be that they see an end to Middle East strife in the next ten years.
