Army Prepares To Fight Terrorists With Laser Weapons

The U.S. Army is preparing to take on terrorists with laser-like precision… Literally.

The military envisions a future of laser warfare ultra-precise weapons based on devastatingly powerful beams of light. It’s only a matter of time until the U.S. Army fights terrorists and other enemy combatants with laser beams, engaging in battles seen previously only in movies like ‘Starship Troopers’ and ‘Star Trek.

The ray gun is real … or at least it will be soon.

The U.S. Army is betting big on laser warfare — designing, testing and perfecting ultra-precise weapons based on devastatingly powerful beams of light. And given recent developments, it’s only a matter of time until the military has in its arsenal a weapon that until now has been the staple of science fiction — the ray gun.

  • It is foreseeable to envision terrorists being tracked by GPS when making a cell phone call then incinerated by a U.S. laser. Hopefully U.S. Government can prevent foreign governments stealing their laser-technology. No one would be safe from small or miniaturized ray guns if they fell into the hands of terrorists. That would be a nightmare. Terrorist in countries like Afghanistan and elsewhere could use laser against our troops and to target gas tanks of cars anywhere, military transports and large trucks that carry fuel to support military operations. Ray guns in terrorist hands could change the way politicians campaign for office: globally it might become unsafe for campaigners to walk streets or give political speeches to outdoor crowds when they might be targeted by lasers; some inventor will have to figure out how to protect occupants of buildings from laser attacks. Could Military Lasers possibly be developed strong enough with bursts of energy, to nudge large meteorites off course before they impact earth’s surface?

  • The thought of Laser technology falling into corrupt hands scares the life out of me. Advancements, such as Laser, could threaten Law Enforcement within the United States. Money talks and technology walks.

I believe for the moment that we should keep Laser weapons on the movie screens, not on out battlefields.
