Napolitano Confident in Super Bowl Security Measures

US Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano gave an unprecedented seal of approval to Super Bowl safety measures on Monday after a stadium tour and a detailed look at preparations for Sunday’s game.

“I didn’t have any (advice) to give,” Napolitano said. “They looked well prepared for the game. It all looked fine to me.”

With technological upgrades and tweaks for specific cities, the elaborate Super Bowl security plan is basically the same as it has been since terrorist attacks in 2001 – unifying federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies.

“We’re looking forward to a great and safe Super Bowl 44,” Napolitano said. “We’re grateful for the remarkable cooperation w’ve seen up and down the line. We’re doing everything we can in preparation to make sure it’s a great event.”

  • Of course this is from the same person who said our air lines were safe! I don’t hold a lot of confidence in her abilities to declare things safe!
