Few people want to think about the possibility of being successfully attacked by terrorists and/or terror sponsoring nations using nuclear weapons. Many would like to think that the United States government is on top of things and watching all avenues of approach. But, the sad truth is that it isn’t looking everywhere it should be looking. The reality of the situation is that the Department of Homeland Security is grossly overwhelmed.

As a CBRN Specialist, this could very well happen. We need to set safeguards in place now before they are able to complete a mission such as that.
This is the second time I have read this article and I am speachless. With all of the money spent on new technology, why can’t something be developed to catch something like this on radar. There has to be a machine out there that detects plutonium. Develop it more for distances. I understand flying at a very low altitude is another way to escape detection. A risk anaylsis has to be performed and worked on.
I should not be surprised by the problem. We are a reactive society and we need to be more of a proactive society. With North Korea getting closer to finishing their project, we have to continually look for new ways to secure this country.
