Ready.gov Launches Social Media Preparedness Initiative

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Ready Campaign, in partnership with The Advertising Council, is introducing a series of new social media tools today to further engage Americans in taking steps to prepare for emergencies. The initiative is an extension of Resolve to be Ready in 2009, a nationwide effort designed to encourage individuals, families, businesses and communities to take action and prepare for emergencies in 2009.

  • I am impressed in many aspect with the current Homeland Security compared with the last administration . How ever, we are still dropping the ball big time by not securing our Borders with live boots on the ground . Live terrorist , drug dealers and H1N1 flu ,all coming across because we are sold out to the Hispanic agenda and their vote base . This may not be politically correct but, it’s still the truth !

  • Preparing an emergency readiness kit is a great idea. However, you assume most people can afford to plunk down what looks to be hundreds of dollars for such a lit & then afford to keep spending to keep the kit up to date.
    Its just not realistic.

  • S. Ralston, a basic disaster kit can be put together for less than $30, but most people find they already have most of the components in their homes somewhere. They just have to compile it all in one place!
