Report Suggests U.S. Needs Hit Squads

A recent report from the U.S. military’s Joint Special Operations University argues that the American government should set up something like a “National Manhunting Agency” to go after jihadists, drug dealers, pirates and other enemies of the state according to an article on The Danger Room. What are your thoughts?

America’s military, intelligence and law-enforcement agencies already devote thousands of people and billions of dollars to tracking down top terrorists and insurgents.

  • Good luck getting anybody to do this. Nobody in their right mind would volunteer to do this under the Obama administration.

  • Considering the state of things, it may be necessary. The world is a much more dangerous place than it was 20 years ago and we can’t depend on foriegn governments to pull their weight. But like Arizona Vet said, no one from Obamas side is likely to step forward.

  • The fact that this is even being spoken about… Some things should not be spoken about. In general the American people don’t want to know how they are being made safe they just want to know that they are safe.

  • Just think of all the money saved getting rid of due process and jury trials!

  • I think it’s calle “Black Ops”, and it’s been around for a while.

  • The Israeli’s have been doing this for a long time. Our leaders need to have the will to take care of this kind of business. In the past presidents have nixed asassinations due to fear of outrage on the parts of foreign governements like the Saudi’s. Bin Laden should have been taken care of long ago. We need a leader that is not afraid to order someone to pull the trigger.

  • I understand the frustration of not being able to find a solution or an end to the terrorists actions. Starting a ‘hit squad’ or ‘kill the drug dealer squad’ or any other kill the bad guys squads is definatelly a bad idea. This is a downhill slope to a police state. Who makes the decision that says this ‘guy’ is a terrorist? Will it be someone who is upset about politics? Or his wife leaving with another man? And on and on. If I were in charge it would be great. I would never do the wrong thing, even if I were to have a mental break-down or get mad at my neighbor. Trust me.
“Report author and retired Lt. Col. George Crawford instead would like to see a permanent group with clear authority, training, doctrine and technology to go after these dangerous individuals. These “manhunting teams would be standing formations, trained to pursue their designated quarry relentlessly for as long as required to accomplish the mission,” he writes.”end quote. Doctrine according to who? Not good. Please read our Constition.

  • I can see the need for such “Hit Squads” and I can see the concerns with just how much power they will be authorized and how it will be limited as well. My concern would be utilizing these forces on innocent civilians as well without any discretion. I believe their scope should be clearly defined, and all involved should be accountable for any of their actions. If we can keep political correctness out of the picture too it would probably be more effective.
