UPDATE:Taliban Leader’s Washington Threat Is Credible, Analysts Say
Terrorism experts call Mehsud a “rising young star” who is linked both to the December 2007 assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the bombing last September that killed 54 people in the Marriott hotel in Islamabad — and they say his threat to carry out an attack in Washington should not be discounted.
“It should be taken seriously because [Mehsud] has ordered the deaths of many Pakistanis and Afghans and has a close alliance with Al Qaeda,” said James Phillips, a terrorism expert and senior research fellow for Middle Eastern Affairs at the Heritage Foundation.

Well now, like I mentioned in the bin laden post, what more bad news can April 2009 bring us? Conficker/downadup virus, N Korea launch, Mexico, bin Laden.”plotting” and now Taliban “plotting”. Oh and now China ability to destroy U.S.Ships. Situations in Afghanastan and Pakistan not looking good either. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE NOW BEFORE ALL THESE “DEVILS” DESTROY INNOCENT LIVES AND THE WORLD. dont we have enough problems now- what has happened or going to happen?
I have mixed feelings about this article. On the one hand, I’m grateful that this website has this story. On the other hand, I’m mad as hell that this website seems to be the only place that is talking about this story. My God, why isn’t this story being blasted across every newspaper and leading off every newscast in the West?! A threat like this cannot be ignored, and now I’m worried as hell that this [edited] will actually make good on it. Wake up, people! We ignore the terror threat at our own peril.
My family has already booked a long weekend vacation in DC in mid April. Havent been on a vacation in 2 years and we decide to pretend the recession/depression doesn’t exist and visit our nation’s capital as a show of patriotism. And now I read about this threat. Lou Dobbs on his show last night mentioned it. I don’t know how much more press it will receive. What will it take for mainstream/and liberal America to realize the threat of Islam is great, whether by bombs or by stealth jihad?
This “slime of humanity” needs to be dealt with permanently.We have many more right behind him.And yet we are not calling him a “terrorist” any longer!(Heaven forbid we hurt his feelings).We are however dismantling Gitmo ,so his buddies can take up residence here on American soil and pose future threats..God help us.
What can we as citzens do- as a nurse, I have been hearing about disasters and yet i have received no training in my facility even though i have asked many authorities about this. i tried to get some training on my own, yet when i had tried to do so the programs i contacted either were expired or were not effective- they were not offering training or they had stopped. where do we receive disaster training. i have tried to get this. i have a basic knowledge, but more needs to be done. i think that the last admisisration worked very hard to keep the country safe from terror attacks, and they did a good job. i do not feel as safe now and i want training.
also, it appears that this new administration and the media downplay the horrific nature of terrorism. terrorism exists- this is a documented fact. many people do not want to face it, but it is real. we all need to be responsible and do our share to help others.

Apparently, they did such a good job that people became
complacent.

Terrorism is alive and well. The Patriot Act was essential and did not break the law. I n this world of post 9/11, we cannot take terrorist threats lightly. Hopefully, there will not be an attack, as the FBI and the other government organizations do a good job.
we need more intelligent people than our current politicians and world leaders to figure this one out… the hasrder we push them, the more threats they make.
I only have a few things to say. First of all, as much as I fear a mind blowing attack on the capital as where as anywhere else, no mater the intensity, I honestly pity those who commit it. What they dont understand is, if they go to far and really hit America hard, they will all die. I think we are at that point, where if they took one of our major cities we would go on a killing spree in the middle east no matter the politics or morals. I fear this too because a lot of innocent people will die. Though a threat like this cannot be ignored, the only way to defeat terrorism is to not fear it. If we die, ya that sucks, but I believe that god has a plan. And if we live in fear of these terrorists then they are winning. Lets do more to hunt these guys out, do more to establish more moderate islamic mosques and governments in the middle east, and essentially give these guys hell and let them know that we have the real power in this world and if they go to far with there attacks on our innocent people, there worlds will come crashing down. Thats all I have to say and I appreciate the factual representation of current events on this sight.
What happened to the threat level colors we use to see across our TV’s? Are we being kept in the dark in hopes the economy will rebound if we do not think about terrorism? If we continue to be like an ostrich and stick our heads in the ground then our butts WILL get kicked!
I hope that the local LE takes this seriously as there will be thousands of runners packed tightly this Sunday for the annual Cherry Blossom run. My wife is participating.

Dear, This is just a shout. Nothing else. Nor they have that much capacity to attack on US. If they could then why there is no attack after 9/11, though they did not make the 9/11.
Its Political game to instablize the world by super powers and moralize the act of attacking Iraq and Afghanistan. They propaganda for Iraq that there are massive misiles and bombs , what they found in Iraq. can they prove.
How many people died in 9/11, can you count after 9/11 how many innocent peoples were killed when US attack on Afghanistan and Iraq, Or they not human being. Who came to US for attack is there any one national of Afghanistan found guilty for 9/11 attack.
