Speaking on NBC’s Meet the Press, Adm Mike Mullen, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, said allowing Iran to develop a nuclear weapon was unacceptable and when asked if the military had a plan to strike Iran, Adm Mullen replied: “We do”, and adding: “I hope we don’t get to that, but it’s an important option and it’s one that’s well understood.”
Adm. Mullen did not elaborate on the plan, and was quick to say that a military strike could have “unintended consequences that are difficult to predict in what is an incredibly unstable part of the world”.
