British authorities today warned drug users that heroin in London was highly likely to be contaminated with anthrax, after a first confirmed case there and following nine deaths in Scotland.
“While public health investigations are ongoing, it must be assumed that all heroin in London carries the risk of anthrax contamination,” said Dr. Brian McCloskey, who is director of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) in London.
“Heroin users are advised to cease taking heroin by any route, if at all possible, and to seek help from their local drug treatment services.”
McCloskey added that the risk to the general population was “negligible.”

This may be a deterrent for drug users, but what bothers me, is, if they are cutting heroin with anthrax?, they obviously can spread it in other ways, the source needs to be uncovered at all speed, I am surprised this information has been made public, as it puts the perps on their guard, I may be wrong, but this could terrorist related, and one must always think the unthinkable, these guys are constantly, without let up, probing the system, mere publication of their activities will not deter them, we have to get in on their act, silently and secretive!!.
Blogger Lionheart (much maligned but actually a nice guy) from England used to run a series on Luton drug dealers all being connected to radical Islamist mosques. I find the fact that someone is cutting heroin with anthrax in a country where many gangs are nominally Muslims intriguing.
