The bedraggled immigrants were picking their way through the boulders and scrub when a group of heavily armed men descended on them just short of the California- Mexico border. They corralled them in a cave and pointed their guns on the 10 men and one woman.
These lawless badlands in the hills east of Tijuana have long teemed with bandits and rapists, but these criminals demanded only phone numbers. They started calling the immigrants’ loved ones in Pomona, San Diego and Bakersfield: Send us money or we’ll shoot, they said.
The days-long kidnapping ordeal in May illustrates a growing trend as roaming gangs of well-organized, heavily armed gunmen turn their sights on illegal immigrants, making a treacherous journey ever more dangerous for people trekking north.

Another reason to properly secure this porous border. The drug cartels use the border as the highway to profits. They use the people of Mexico & other nations immigrants transiting through Mexico, as pawns. Cut off their ability to easily deliver their poison across that border & those cartels will relocate their operations back to the northern South American counties where many o drugs originate. Imagine the cartels trying to transit into America using boats via the Gulf of Mexico. Our Naval & Coast Guard vessels would have a field day taking target practice as drug smugglers attempt to beat out the sophisticated systems we can employ to stop them.
Its high time we take away the entire border from the criminal elements that are exploiting it for profits. With so much of that border totally unsecured. Lets face it, there are hundreds of miles of border that go ignored by our BP Agents. Those guys are trying to stop a massive leak, using a pinkie fingers worth of tools. The BP Agents face vicious attacks by illegal border crossers, by drug gangs, by various other criminals, & they do so employing rules of engagement that hamper all of their efforts. Those seeking open borders or lax immigration policies, erect any & every barrier to efforts to properly secure the border. The open borders types fail to realize their actions are permitting & even encouraging criminals & illegal aliens to make the effort to evade the system. In doing so, there are deaths, rapes, assaults, thefts, kidnappings, extortions, & all sorts of other crimes going on. Its become an industry. A lucrative industry. Based on the inescapable lies, distortions, & other vacuous political expedients used to justify their actions, one wonders who among the political, academic, social, & other power elite, are directly &/or indirectly profiting from this massive failure to secure a sovereign nation? How else can one explain why this goes on & on for decades, while using the same failed tactics to deal with the problems? All the while our political, media, academic, & other power elite disingenuously keep telling the public they should expect different results from these repeatedly used failed methods to deal w/ the issue?

Perhaps most disconcerting is the media’s failure to tell the public the truth, the whole truth, & nothing but the truth, about that porous border failure. Far too many politicians tell the public the border is secure, and is more secure than ever before. it is not. We catch only 30% of whatever illegal activity is crossing over that border. The success politicians mention is that DHS has improved their capture rate from 28% last year, to perhaps 30% this year. Imagine? Our Border Patrol & Customs people have a 70% failure rate, because our power brokers hinder law enforcement officials efforts to actually secure the border?! Sooner or later there will be a price to pay for this. I fear that price will be the deaths of multiple innocents!
