Cops detain man for questioning in Los Angeles car arsons

Los Angeles authorities have detained a “person of interest” in the arson spree that has terrorized Tinseltown as firefighters battled a frenzy of new blazes early Monday, officials said.

A dozen fires broke out in cars and apartment carports across Los Angeles and West Hollywood about 1:30 a.m. Monday, just hours after authorities released grainy video footage showing a balding, ponytailed white man leaving the scene of a fire at an underground parking garage at the Hollywood and Highland Center, a tourist complex that includes Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
