The beach that locals know and love is slowly being consumed right before their eyes. Crude oil overwhelmed Pensacola Beach early Wednesday.
“It’s like my backyard and someone just dumps something on it, it’s so sad,” said lifelong resident Carmen Terrell. “It’s not upsetting and it doesn’t hurt my feelings, it just breaks my heart. It’s just sad.”
Crews have been working on the beach since daybreak. Skimmers were seen in the water cleaning up oil.
