I-19 In Arizona Closed Due To Suspicious Vehicle

UPDATE: Arizona Department of Public Safety officials towed a suspicious vehicle from Interstate-19 near Rio Rico to a DPS site in Tucson early Saturday morning, said Bart Graves, a spokesman for the agency in Phoenix.

A special investigations unit was sent to the scene Friday night and later, the vehicle was towed to Tucson.

The northbound lanes of I-19 were closed at 8:30 p.m. Friday and reopened at 12:39 a.m. Saturday, he said.

Graves said he could not comment on whether anything was found in the vehicle. He said he had no other information for the public on the incident.

Officers with the Department of Public Safety are investigating a suspicious vehicle on I-19 at Palo Parado Road which has prompted the closing of the Interstate.

Officer Mehr with DPS says that the incident involves a suspicious vehicle on the Interstate between Nogales and Tucson, southbound traffic is not restricted however northbound traffic has been closed. Units from the officers explosive ordnance team are also enroute to the scene.
