UPDATE: Officials lifted a lockdown that lasted a little more than an hour at a Naval air base in Lakehurst Monday morning, after a FedEx truck driver entering the base was found with a handgun.
The lockdown went into effect about 9:15 a.m. on the 42,000-acre Naval Air Systems Command base (NAVAIR) at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst When the driver was asked if he had a weapon, he said he did, so he was turned away after having been given a citation, according to Lt. Carlyn Glover.

as a former armoured truck guard, now retired, i’ve met fedex drivers on the road frequently, and this is the first time i’ve heard of a fedex driver carrying a gun”for self defense” or any other reason, while on duty. as far as that goes even as armoured truck guards we were not allowed armed beyond the entrance doors to a post office working area when making a pick up. i suspect this guy will be looking for a new job about now.
