New York Daily news reports several blocks of deadly C-4 explosive were found Monday morning in an East Village cemetery, police sources said.
There were no blasting caps found with the bricks, meaning there was no way to detonate the explosive.
“But it’s still C-4, so it’s being taken very seriously,” a police source said.
Yesterday there was some confusion because there was news footage of “someone” on a stretcher being wheeled away from the scene. As stated, no one was injured. What I believe the news cameras captured was the C4 itself being removed from the scene on a stretcher, covered by a few layers of turnout gear (and possibly some kevlar). It has been done before when removing explosives from a scene and depending on the individual circumstances is sometimes the safest way to execute a removal/disposal.
