U.S. Marshal Imposter Allegedly Deports Hemet Woman

A Hemet man was arrested after a strange chain of events, in which he allegedly took a woman from her home, handcuffed her and put her on a plane to the Philippines while posing as a U.S. Marshal, authorities said.

On January 15, Hemet Police said Gregory R. Denny, 37, allegedly went to a home on the 1200 block of Stepstone Court and took a woman into custody.

Denny was reported to be wearing clothes with a federal logo on it and a badge around his neck and apparent handgun at the time of the incident.

Denny allegedly told the woman and the other occupants in the home he was deporting her according to Hemet police Lt. Duane Wisehart.

The suspect then proceeded to handcuff the woman of the home, took her to the U.S. Border Patrol station in Murrieta, where he was told the woman had no warrant in the system and declined to take his “prisoner,” authorities said.

Additional Details… Suzanne Trevino, spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration, said in a telephone interview that an investigation has revealed that someone who presented “falsified law enforcement documents” was able to get past security and eventually make it to a gate with a prisoner. The individual presented himself as a law enforcement officer and followed the proper procedures, including logging in, she said.

The woman apparently has remained in the Philippines believing she had been deported. The victim’s family, believing the woman was being deported by federal officials, apparently paid for the airline ticket.

  • I guess that’s one way to solve the illegal immigrant question!

Seriously though obvious breaches in security abound here.

  • What stands out most about this news story is that the suspect was able to escort the handcuffed victim through the airport and to the gate of a departing flight; the fact the suspect was able to accomplish that, lends itself to a millions adverse possibilities not in the interest of national security.
