ABC News reports Yemeni diplomat who has spoken to military commanders on the scene said there was no confirmation yet that American-born Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki is at the location in South Yemen where a military operation continues.
Yemeni officials said earlier today they believed Awlaki was near a village where thousands of civilians have fled their homes in the wake of ongoing fighting between government forces and a group of suspected al Qaeda militants and leaders with whom Awlaki was believed to be hiding.
