Local High School Student Killed In Tijuana Shootout

Monday, a 17-year-old junior from Chula Vista named Jose Labastida was in his black Audi in front of his house in Tijuana’s Chapultepec neighborhood. Mexican police stated over 60 bullets had been shot during the shootout which was most likely associated with arranged crime.

Based on what the authorities say, the majority of the shots were from an AK-47 assault rifle and many of the bullets hit Labastida’s windshield. Authorities stated Labastida had been evidently attempting to avoid getting kidnapped as he was shot. Labastida was probably a feasible target since the Calimax chain of shops in Mexico is actually owned by his family.
